India added a record 44.6 GW of solar capacity in FY26, nearly double the earlier record of 23.83 GW in FY25. Total installed solar capacity went past 150 GW.
Ground-mounted projects added about 34.8 GW, while distributed solar — rooftops, PM-KUSUM pumps and rural projects — contributed 16.3 GW, around 36% of the total.
Module manufacturing capacity reached 210 GW, though utilisation was only about 40% as older MonoPERC lines move to TOPCon. Cell capacity (over 9 GW) remains the gap.
